Abstract |
Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF) is a chronic, progressive and potentially malignant disorder of the oral mucosa, primarily associated with betel quid and areca nut chewing. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the efficacy of intralesional Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) versus triamcinolone acetonide with hyaluronidase in the treatment of oral submucous fibrosis. This is a randomized clinical trial was conducted at the unit of oral medicine and radiology, Faculty of Dental Sciences, IMS, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Patients diagnosed with grade II and III oral submucous fibrosis participated in this study. Results show that intralesional PRP was more effective than the combination of triamcinolone acetonide and hyaluronidase in the management of oral submucous fibrosis. |
